Bad Cholesterol Can Be Reduced By An Apple Every Day
An
apple a day keeps the doctor away seems to be proving right with
every passing day as among older people there has been evidence of
apples reducing cholesterol, according to a new study.
The
study was conducted at the Florida State University where two groups
of older women were taken. One group was given dried prunes every
single day for about a year and the other group was made to eat an
apple every single day.
The
results proved to be surprising as there was a 23 per cent reduction
in the LDL cholesterol and on the other hand there was a four per
cent rise in HDL cholesterol. Losing about 3.3 pounds of weight was
also reported by women who added an apple every day.
Dr
Bahram H Arjmandi, claimed, “Apples is a miracle fruit. I never
expected apple consumption to reduce bad cholesterol to this extent
while increasing HDL cholesterol or good cholesterol by about four
per cent. Everyone can benefit from consuming apples.”
Apples
have been stated to be very beneficial for a long time and with this
research these claims seem to be getting stronger every day.
